Motahari claims that the revolution in Iran was not fuelled by social or economic forces, but by revulsion against the un-Islamic behaviour of the Shah. Although categorical about the total success of the revolution, he ends with a note of caution, remarking that should the Islamic government prove brutal and oppressive, then the forces who advocate a revolutionary Islam might find popular support.
