Zusammenfassung:The author discusses the relationship between Islam and international as well as domestic politics. He finds that, with the exception of Turkey, nationalism is primarily anti-Western. The upshot of this particular approach is that the Western powers and the Middle Eastern countries together constitute a heterogeneous rather than homogeneous international system, the relations between these two sets of countries not being carried out on the basis of mutually accepted set of rules and are therefore largely unpredictable.
